450 jobs at risk at CIT but businesses are less pessimistic

A report out by KBC banks indicates that many Irish employers feel we are over the worst of the recession. This assessment was released as a cloud hangs over CIT Group with a subsidiary employing 450 staff in Dublin

Newspapers report that up to 450 jobs at the Dublin subsidiary CIT are at risk if the parent firm cannot convince the government in the US that it should receive debt guarantees to support survival.

KBC Bank found that businesses in general are less pessimistic about the future and are expecting to cut fewer jobs in the coming months. Green shoots in US and UK are the main factors behind the positive sentiment.
