First Derivatives & ICS Computing – Belfast & Newry – 190 Jobs

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Financial IT company First Derivatives will create 140 jobs in Newry where they already employ 130 staff. The company indicated that most of the jobs will be filled by locals (what about all the southern shoppers). The majority of the new jobs are consultancy with some management. First Derivatives provides consultancy and software services for financial institutions who want to analyse their exposure to debt.

Service & IT Software company ICS Computing will create 50 new jobs in Belfast at its headquarters. The new job creation is as a result of a new contract with NHS. ICS currently employs over 250 people at its Belfast office.

Other news impacting the north was that ASDA will create 7,000 new jobs which will surely mean more employed in Northern Ireland.

Retail Jobs – Cork, Limerick, Longford, Waterford, Laois & Dublin

If things pick up in the Retail Sector these locations will create a large volume of new jobs in the retail sector. What is great for potential employees in the sector is that these developments are spread across the country in Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Laois, Longford. There will also be potential new jobs in what seem to be a great success – Dundrum Town Centre. I’d say I must be the only person yet to visit it BUT my wife makes up for that.

Retail Jobs – where to find them!!

If you are looking for work in the Retail Sector we did a previous post on retail centres and jobs. Many shopping centres now advertise jobs on their own website. I know Dundrum & Blanchardstown do BUT you might check out the above developments. Otherwise there are the usual job search strategies.

Tesco creates 1200 new jobs in Ireland – Retail Jobs News

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Tesco has announced plans to create over 1,200 jobs this year at 16 new stores across Ireland.

Tesco currently employs over 13,000 people in Ireland and the new jobs announcement is an indication of Tesco’s success. It is estimated that 1 euro of every 4 euro we spend on shopping in Ireland is lodged in a Tesco till. It has reported a 10% increase in sales to almost €3bn for the year to February.

Will this mean that they will be dropping their prices?

I doubt it BUT I did hear the Tesco CEO Ireland on the TV tonight and he did expect prices to drop. This is only because of the exchange rates.

Its looks like we could be eating ourselves out of a slump.

Retail Jobs in Ireland – Where to find them!!

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Following on from the post yesterday I have done a bit more research on how to find retail jobs in Ireland.

There are a few key agencies who recruit for retail jobs – Eden Recruitment, RightFit 4 Retail, Excel Recruitment, Star Retail. You can also get access to loads of jobs on the jobboards including EmployIreland and retailjobs365.

Remember my advice on the previous post. Visit shopping center websites as many of them see to advertise all open vacancies on their sites. I think this is a great idea BUT also a great resource if you seeking work in Retail in Ireland.

I pointed out Dundrum & Blanchardstown Shopping centres BUT there are many similar centres around Ireland. The Jervis Centre in D1 does not list jobs but it does list all the shops and contact details – missed opportunity I guess as these shops are probably paying elsewhere to find staff.

Retail Jobs in Blanchardstown & Dundrum

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

I was helping a client with job search strategies and I came across an interesting find. Basically my client wanted a job in Retail and lived in Blanchardstown. My client was focusing on city center retail jobs which is fine. For some strange reason they had not searched locally (must enjoy the congestion in Dublin). I googled “Jobs In Blanchardstown” and the search highlighted blanchardstowncentre.ie. The town centre actually advertises retail jobs on its site – Bodyshop, BT2, H&M, HMV and many more retail companies are advertising. Guess what when I checked out dundrum.ie they do the same – Harvey Nicols, House of Fraser and much more.

This is a great strategy for retail jobseekers. Many will go directly to jobboards or recruitment agencies BUT you can actually check out the retail centre websites directly.
