Jobs boost for two regions that have suffered particularly hard over the last 12 months with negative jobs news. Co. Clare and Co. Donegal received positive news with the announcement of 90 new jobs at Clare Spring Water and 80 new jobs at SITA.

Clare Jobs – 90 new jobs created at Clare Spring Water

The Clare Spring Water company will create 90 new jobs as part of a €4m investment in the country’s first biodegradable and compostable plastic bottle. The company currently employs 10 staff making still and sparkling water products. The new jobs will be created over the next 3 years and will include manufacturing, recycling, engineering and sales.

Donegal Jobs – 80 new jobs created at SITA in Letterkenny.

Software development firm SITA will create 80 new jobs over the next 12 months. SITA provides services to the travel and transport industries and has recently relocated to new premises to cope with increased demand. The company currently employs 70 staff in Donegal.

ESB Jobs – 3,700 New GREEN JOBS with ESB in Ireland

THE first 500 of 3,700 new jobs announced by the ESB will be offered to new recruits this year. The massive employment boost for thousands of workers was announced this week and is part of a €1bn a year investment in new green technologies. It should be pointed out that most of the jobs will not be in place until 2013. Still positive news all the same.

New recruits to ESB will work across a range of renewable technologies to reduce CO2 emissions. One such technology is the smart meter allowing householders to reduce their energy bills.

The 500 new jobs to be created this year will work on the rollout of free energy efficiency surveys for 25,000 households and the installation of insulation in homes. An additional 550 workers will work on a construction project revamping the old ESB headquarters in D2.

A part of the hiring drive ESB will also take on new engineers and provide training opportunities for 800 apprentices. This figure will include 400 FAS apprentices who lost their jobs during the recent economic slump.

GREEN JOBS NEWS IN IRELAND – IRISH GREEN JOBS – JOBS – GREEN

Topaz Energy has announce a 50m euro investment with the creation of 400 jobs in Ireland. Over the next few week you will notice Topaz replacing Shell and Statoil in 350 service stations.

Interestingly Topaz are branding themselves as more than a fuel retailer. They indicated that they sold 4 million cups of coffee, 8 million cold drinks, 2 million sandwiches, 5 million newspapers and 14 million confectionery products. No mention of the famous BREAKFAST ROLLS!!
