Xilinx Ireland creates 20 new Engineering Jobs

Xilinx employ 400 staff at its European HQ in Ireland and 3,800 staff worldwide. These numbers will increase slightly with news of the creation of 20 new jobs in a new Global Customer Engineering Division.

This new division will enable faster delivery of products to market, cost-effectively, and with improved performance. Xilinx’s design function works with many of the top players in the electronics sector to produce programmable devices for a wide range of advanced systems.

Cloud Computing Centre creates 21 new jobs – IBM jobs in Ireland

IBM has announced that it is setting up a cloud computing centre in Dublin. This is the first of its kind in Europe and the project will be supported by the IDA. This development will create about 21 new jobs. Nine of these will be research based. OK – it is not many jobs but they are high-end jobs. Its quality and not quantity – that is what the government will say.

The new Dublin-based site will act as the European hub and it will provide research and other services to future facilities across EMEA. The site will also train lecturers at the DIT’s School of Computing in the area of cloud computing.

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment – Micheal Martin made the announcement and said that the decision to locate in Ireland highlighted the importance of Ireland in IBM’s global R&D.
